    History of Medieval Canon Law. Coimbra, Biblioteca da Universidade , fol. 2r. In , Wilfried Hartmann (Universität Tübingen) and Ken Pennington began to organize a team of international scholars to write a new History of Medieval Canon Law. After meetings in San Diego, Bad Homburg (Frankfurt), Rome, the project was launched with over fifty scholars from thirteen countries participating. Canon law, body of laws made within certain Christian churches by lawful ecclesiastical authority for the government both of the whole church and parts thereof and of the behavior and actions of individuals. In a wider sense the term includes precepts of divine law incorporated into the canonical codes.
